From the Commodore
Welcome past Commodores, Honorary Life Members, Life Members, Members and guests.
Special thanks to all committee members who have helped keep the club running smoothly in my absence.
I trust all members listened to the NEMA advice re the Tsunami alerts we received on Wednesday. Thankfully nothing major has eventuated to date and our Mana West Coast was the first to be allowed to return to normality late Thursday pm.
Membership Renewals for the new financial year
The system is in place and introduced to members last week. Just a reminder about the process this year:
We will send out the membership renewal emails tomorrow in terms of the club's rules around membership renewals. The rule states:
Arrears
Members shall be sent a notice in the first week of August stating they must pay the membership fee fixed in Rule 15 to the club by 31st August and to ensure their details in terms of Rule 15 are up to date. Any members who have not paid membership fees by 31st August shall be shall be deemed in arrears.
Members in Arrears;
- shall not be entitled to the privileges of the Club,
- shall not be entitled to vote at any meeting nor compete for any prizes or skipper any vessel in a Club race until the membership fees are paid.
- shall be sent a reminder notice in the first week of September stating if they do not pay their membership fees by 30th September their membership will be terminated forthwith and they shall cease to be a member of the club.
- Membership may be reinstated on receipt of the full membership fees at the discretion of the committee.
What this means is that your membership cards will work at the bar up to 31 August. If you have not paid your subs by then, and you come into the wardroom, you cannot be served alcohol.
During September you will be able to pay your subs at the bar or office to immediately reactivate your membership card and be served alcohol.
After the 3oth September your card cannot be automatically reactivated as reinstatement of membership must go to the committee in terms of the rules.
Subs may be paid at the bar, at the office, by internet banking. Payment by credit card was expected to be live on the 1st August, however we have experienced an issue that should be resolved in the next few days by our bank.
We have a new Member Portal on the website. Once registered, you will be able to:
- View an electronic copy of your membership card with an expiry date
- Download a copy of your membership card in the event you are visiting a club with reciprocal rights and need to show a current membership.
- View a list of the clubs we have a reciprocal agreements with.
- Make a payment to the club for any of our services
- Register your boat as a club vessel and record details of its design, equipment etc.
- Find details of club members vessels in our Vessel Register
- View your profile and update your personal information in terms of the club's Rule 15.
Ultimately we will have a membership process that meets our legal requirements and will make your club experience smoother and more secure. If you have any questions, or think we have got anything wrong with your membership, please let us know.
Thank you
The Treasurer
