From the Commodore

I trust you managed to survive last Thursdays storm with out any major damage to yourselves, properties or boats, although 1 club member did actually  lose his boat entirely, as it got battered by the winds, and eventually blown up on the shore, over by its pole mooring at Titahi Bay, so not good news for him.

However I do know some other boats in the marina, had broken some ropes plus a couple actually lost their awnings entirely, due to the severe winds.

On the other side, the good news is that for this weekend, the weather is looking a little more settled, and for all of you Mothers out there…..Happy Mothers Day for Sunday !

Club Liquor License

A reminder to all, that when signing a guest into the  club, that they must actually be your guest. Failure to comply with this simple rule might actually make the club lose its current license, so please observe the basic rules for every ones future enjoyment. If you decide to leave, then your guest must also leave with you.

Reciprocal Rights

The club had now entered in to a reciprocal rights agreement with the Manawatu Marine Boating Club, based at Foxton. Should you be up that way, then you are invited to enjoy the MMBC club and restaurant facilities. It should be noted though, that the agreement excludes launching rights at either club.

Te Ora Nui

Bruce and Fiona Paulsen have left for the first leg of their big overseas trip, which is  to sail to Fiji via Tauranga. We wish them smooth seas and safe sailing.

Wiring Warnings

A timely reminder to double check some of the wiring on boats, or get it done by a professional.  A short on the “park” circuit of a “wiper” motor nearly caused a fire on the hard stand. The “park” circuit is actually a positive 12vdc power supply and had developed a short behind the motor connection, as the park circuit was NOT fused. Quick responses to the battery kill switch luckily saved the day.

Yard Work and New Pontoons

The next stage is the $30k worth of pontoons, so if you are keen to sponsor 1, 2,3 or more of the new pontoons blocks @ $225.00 each, please contact myself, or the office.

Staff and some MCC members will be undergoing training and safe operating practises for our new fork truck, “Captain Stack Sparrow”.

Club Cruises

The next cruise is planned for Labour weekend, plus   we do have the Kings Birthday weekend on 2/6/25 and Matariki Holiday on 20/6/25, which could make it feasible for another long weekend cruise to Queen Charlotte Sounds, all subject to weather. If interested please let me know.

Always happy to discuss any items personally with anyone at their leisure.
