From the Commodore
“Lest we Forget” Yes its ANZAC Day, and I hope you have enjoyed the various Dawn Services around the area, and the extra long weekend following on from Easter.
Club Liquor License A reminder to all, that when signing a guest into the club, that they must actually be your guest. Failure to comply with this simple rule might actually make the club lose its current license, so please observe the basic rules for every ones future enjoyment. If you decide to leave then your guest must also.
Waka Hourua The Waka Hinemoana is currently moored at the breast works. All club members, if interested, have been invited to “have a tour” of the Waka, on ANZAC day between 9-11am before it departs down south, possibly next week at some stage.
Waka Ama Hoe Tonga Pacifica Waka Ama Association are hosting the 2025 Waka Ama Long distance Nationals at Ngati Toa Domain this weekend. Their racing end point is the Sea Scouts buildings, at Ngati Toa, so please be aware of Waka and spectators in this area at the time. They have been advised it is a busy channel of water, and that larger boats have right of way, are less maneuverable, and are governed by the various channels of water. |
Coastguard A reminder that coastguard run a large number of training courses at the club, which all members are encouraged to make full use of. These courses include, Day Skippers, Maritime VHF Certificate, and Boat Master Course. If you have a current coastguard membership you are also entitled to a 10% discount, and if you take out a new membership, then you can enjoy a $75.00discount off the Day Skipper course. Bookings can be made online via bookings@boatingeducation.org.nz
Yard Work and New Pontoons The next stage is the $30k worth of pontoons, so if you are keen to sponsor 1, 2,3 or more of the new pontoons blocks @ $225.00 each, please contact myself, or the office. Our Fork truck is here and has been named via the Facebook contest as……"Captain Stack Sparrow. Congrats to Leonte for the naming contest and she has won a bar voucher. Staff and some members will be undergoing training and safe operating practises for the fork truck.
Sounds Moorings Update Punga Cove Camp Bay mooring is hopefully to be moved or an adjacent mooring shifted to give more space. Mana Bar mooring is missing, possibly cut or run over, and the committee are possibly relinquishing the mooring consent, as there is good anchoring in the area.
Club Cruises The next cruise is planned for Labour weekend, plus we do have the Kings Birthday weekend on 2/6/25 and Matariki Holiday on 20/6/25, which could make it feasible for another long weekend cruise to Queen Charlotte Sounds, all subject to weather. If interested please let me know.

Annual Photo Fishing CompetitionThis has started again so remember to take those measured photos before you start the filleting process, and get them into fishing@manacc.co.nz Fishing Section Meeting On Wednesday 21st May Rob Paulin will be presenting on the “adventures of Southern Cross” touching on construction, shake down trip to Whanganui Inlet, then Blue fin tuna from Mana and lastly Fiordland and circumnavigation of the South Island. |

The bar is open as usual this Friday, however the restaurant is closed, so we only have limited food available Friday Night Business Card draws will be happening with the lucky winner taking away a bar tab voucher, and you must be present to win. Super Rugby on this weekend, Chiefs vs Force at 7.05pm tonight, and Reds vs Blues at 9.35pm Saturday, Drua vs Pacifika at 4.35pm, Highlanders vs Crusaders at 7.05pm, Brumbies vs Hurricanes @ 9.35pm

Digitized Photos on DisplayDuring some recent tidying up, we have found and digitized a large number of photos and these will be displayed on the TV in the wardroom on club nights, or as required. If you want to contribute to these photos with some of your own, then please contact myself or leave them at the office, and we can digitise them for the club memories. Enjoy the memories! |

Thursday Night WinnersThis week raffle prizes included a $50 gift card from Prestons, and vouchers from New World, KP Marine, Mobil, Woolworths, and GoFuel. This week the Locker draw stood at $550.00.
