From the Commodore

Further to last weeks notice re resignations you will have seen the notice of a General Meeting being held on Saturday 30th November, to elect new Committee members.

This has put us all in a difficult and un-precedented position. Nominations for vacant positions close @1500hrs on 1st November 2024.

We are now looking for nominations for Secretary, Treasurer, Rear Commodore (house) and  General Committee x 2.

These new committee members will need to be able to sign that they have read and understood the previous committees Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, and Privacy policies.

As per rule 8(a) we have elected Martin Scott to the position of Vice-Commodore.

As per rule 8(b) we have co-opted Margaret (Margo) McDermott on to the General committee to help ensure we can maintain a quorum in the event of sickness or absenteeism.

Elizabeth Charlton was nominated to take on the role of acting secretary and Shayne o'Hagan has kindly offered to be acting Treasurer until the General Meeting. Thanks to both for there support.

Very happy to discuss any items personally with anyone at their leisure.

Come on down to the club and celebrate those members who are out there doing it and taking advantage of the resources on our doorstep.

All club members and guests welcome – you do not have to have attended any fishing section meetings nor must join the fishing section to attend.

We are hopeful of having past speakers and sponsors attend to make this a memorable day, and would love to see you there.

From the Marina Team

To all Marina users,

We wish to provide you with advanced notice of a temporary closure of the Marina entrance.

The entrance will be closed on Friday November 1st from 10.00am until 17.00pm. And Saturday November 2nd from 10.45am until 17.30pm.

Divers will actually be commencing the preparation on Thursday 31/10/24 so please be mindful and keep your speed to the limits

The purpose of the closure is for “jetting” which is  a dredging practice to remove the sand build up at the entrance. Following this initial flush, we are planning a dredging system to maintain the depth as much as practically possible in the future.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to your boating plans but we are confident that this will give some draft relief as we approach the summer boating season.

Kind regards,
Marina Team  and the Mana Cruising Club.
